George Williams adheres to a personal philosophy that in order to find purpose and growth, you have to give of yourself, first and foremost. He began community volunteerism in 1987 as an advocate for closing the diversity gap in information technology education to be seen as a career option by African American students. For 10 years he served as president of the Cleveland and National BDPA Chapters, which provides computer training and mentoring. In 1999 George’s commitment to volunteer was re-energized upon joining the Greater Cleveland Church of Christ, which has a driving mission to serve those in need. In 2021, as past Board President, he led the church plan to acquire a permanent home in the St. Clair Superior neighborhood to support the community growth and revitalization already occurring in the neighborhood. Throughout his career, he has served as an advisor and board member with the American Heart Association, CCC Unified Technology Center, Cleveland Education Fund, Lifebanc Multi-Cultural Committee, MetroHealth Institutional Review Board and is co-founder of the Consortium of African American Organizations.
