Bessie Conner began The Kings & Queens Within Us (KQWU) in 2021, a 501(C)(3) approved association. After suffering the death of two children; one in 2002, and then the murder of her eldest child in 2018; the work of Kings & Queens became a lifeline of reason to carry on. KQWU began working in the fields of community organizing, mental health counseling, and conducting events for those that are living in impoverished situations. KQWU conducts distributions of supplies and resources three times each week to grassroots programs and educational institutions, providing organizations with the supplies needed to service their communities. Partnerships are very important to Bessie, who has opened light-work employment opportunities for seniors as well as mentoring for high school students, mental retardation development programs, and volunteer work for re-entry individuals. Bessie desires to help those that are unsure where to start by giving them the tools to develop a better standard of living and through supplying work and job training for those looking to rebuild their life in society.
