Emily

Emily Tiell’s mission is to connect and help people along their journey towards the next chapter in their lives. For the past decade Emily has called Cleveland her home while embracing the diversity the city has to offer. Originally coming to Cleveland to work with the refugee population, Emily’s passion for culture grew. Working hard to connect her clients to various resources lead her on a journey to build a better community. Currently acting as Executive Director at Esperanza Threads, a community sewing school, she hopes to expand her outreach and increase connectiveness within her neighborhood. Just like a needle and thread, Emily stitches connections between individuals. Many of those she serves come to her with various needs, but a common thread amongst everyone is a need to feel welcomed and supported. She aims to create a community hub where everyone is welcome, regardless of their past, while connecting groups of people that normally would never interact, learn skills, and feel safe being themselves. Emily continues to use her passions while “mending the quilt,” towards a better Cleveland.
