Artrice Smith-Lane is committed to improving the quality of life for underserved families and individuals. She started her career in community service in 2008 with Step Forward as a Home Energy Assistance Intake Specialist, where she assisted low-income families with utility assistance in their time of need. While engaging with these families, Mrs. Smith-Lane realized she wanted to do more to help families become self-sufficient and access quality schools, housing, and safe places for the youth to enjoy their youth and to engage with their peers. Mrs. Smith-Lane decided in 2014 to return to the Union Miles neighborhood where she was raised to work at Union Miles Development Corporation, where she was recently promoted to Program Director. Her efforts include, but are not limited to, advocating for youth development and exposure, homeownership in black and brown communities, and workforce development for returning citizens. Mrs. Smith-Lane is a Board Member of BrandNew Youth Mentoring, a non-profit where she advocates for youth development. She is also part of First Ladies Dynasti where she volunteers to feed and clothe the homeless in downtown Cleveland every other Sunday.
