Lakiesha

Lakiesha Smith has made her mark in the community by being transparent and doing things from the heart. Her passion to help people returning home from prison comes from the difficulties she faced after being released herself, when she came home looking for help only to find out that the only help she needed was to change her way of thinking. Instead of conforming to what society wanted her to be, Lakiesha decided that she would do better and be better. Lakiesha founded a program called More Than a Felon where she helps returning citizens get connected to the resources that they need. She also feeds the homeless regularly and hosts back-to-school drives in her community. Giving back has been Lakiesha’s way of connecting with her community and while doing so, she has formed a huge support system that believes in her mission. Now that she can see how bright her future looks, Lakiesha now lives by the belief that her past pushed her to her purpose.
